Mission Statement

To unite the community to respond to human trafficking through increased awareness for educators, health care providers, social service providers, law enforcement, and the general community while developing collaborative protocols and procedures to respond to victims, target demand, and prevent future victimization and exploitation.

Vision Statement

To end human trafficking in our region through public awareness, legal policy, restoration of survivors, and investment in at-risk populations.

About Us

The Kalamazoo Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition was formed in 2012 and has since become the Kalamazoo Area Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition (KAAHTC). We meet monthly in the Catholic Charities building at 1819 Gull Road. We are a community member organization that comes together to raise awareness and advocate for services in the Kalamazoo area. Our coalition is a recognized regional task force under the Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force.

What We Do

The Kalamazoo Area Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition is fighting trafficking in Kalamazoo County. We do this through awareness, advocacy, training, and victim assistance.

Awareness.

We educate our community about the true nature of human trafficking, equipping people to recognize it and know what to do about it. To request a speaker from KAAHTC to present to your group, click hereFor information on an upcoming KAHTC awareness event, click here.

Advocacy.

Together with the Junior League of Kalamazoo, we advocate for victim centered legislation at the state level that will benefit the anti-trafficking cause in Michigan.

Training.

We train professionals who might likely come into contact with someone in a trafficking situation (law enforcement, teachers, medical staff, social workers, etc.) to recognize and respond to trafficking. We also teach adolescents how to avoid being targeted by sex traffickers. To request a training, click here.

Assistance.

We help connect people coming out of a potential trafficking situation to the appropriate services. We work with organizations in the area that provide housing, counseling, medical help, legal services, and aid with transitioning into a healthy life. To request services, click here.
